 ‘Simhastha Mahakumbh’ exhibition inaugurated

Indira Gandhi Rashtiya Manav Sangrahalaya is organising an exhibition ‘Simhastha Mahakumbh Exhibition’ was inaugurated by Ms. Deepika Pokharna (Director, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) at Veethi Sankul indoor exhibition building.

The present photo exhibition is an outcome of the comprehensive documentation carried out by the team member of I.G.R.M.S. in the year 2016. It attempts to provide an insight into the magnificent congregation of religious pilgrims in the Simhastha Mahakumbh which appears to be a unique blend of human, spirit and nature. The spiritual human articulation with Simhastha Mahakumbh also seems to have exhibit the relevance of coherent social interactions, profoundly weaved through the web of human networks cutting across the cultural boundaries of various communities across India and beyond. One can also witness the Mahakumbh not only limited to the religious activities only but also to a degree of significant social transactions where multidimensional facets of human needs, values, cultures, thoughts, and socio-economic pursuits appears to have find a space to converge.

An attempt has been made in this exhibition to showcase the unique transformation of the holy Ujjain city into huge premise of temporary cultural space of a large human presence, drawing limitless display of cultural expressions that provide the very essence and eloquence of Indian Civilization. On this occasion Director, IGRMS, Prof.  Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri, Mr. Dilip Singh, ITS (Joint Director, IGRMS) and visitors were present in large number.
