Workshop 'Anthropology and Museums' Concludes

Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, is a unique museum in the country. The national workshop at IGRMS on 'Anthropology and Museums' concluded on January 14, 2015 on as part of the education and outreach activities. During the workshop anthropologists visited Himalayan Village, Rock Art Shelter, Mythological Trail, Vethi Sankul, Tribal Habitat, Avriti Bhawan, coastal village and understood the details of anthropology. To give a better an insight of the subject anthropologists were taken to Bheembetka for understanding anthropological aspects of the rock arts.
Speaking on the concluding ceremony, Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri, Director, IGRMS said "All Ethnographic Museums around the world has a transformative power. This workshop is organised for sharing ideas with each-other and look at our work from different perspectives”. To a question by a participant anthropologist, he replied “Anthropologists has the habit to visit again and again the same community. The major point at a field work is ‘what are the issues you are looking at of the community’ that will bring the anthropologist much more transparent understanding of the community".
The anthropologists were awarded certificates of the national workshop and group photographs by Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri, Director, IGRMS and Assistant Curator, Mr Arun Kiro.
